Uploading a video or image from local storage

In this article, you will learn how to upload a video or image from local storage in SPAN sports performance analysis platform.

Before you begin

Files can only be uploaded into existing folders. To learn how to create and manage folders, refer to this article.

Selecting a video or image from local storage

  1. After opening a folder, click on the "Add Files or Record Screen" button with the "+" sign positioned in the top-left corner of the page.
  2. Once clicked, it will redirect you to a page where you can see three button options: "YOUTUBE/VIMEO," "LOCAL FILE," and "SCREEN RECORDING." The first option is opened by default.
  3. Click on the "LOCAL FILE" button to upload video and image files from local storage.
  4. Upon clicking, it will redirect you to a page saying "Drag and drop files here or Click to upload."
  5. Click on this page to select or drag and drop the files from local storage for upload.
  6. After selecting the files, you will be redirected to a page with three buttons: "UPLOAD RAW FILE," "UPLOAD," and "CANCEL."
Notes
Note: If you are using a free-trial account on SPAN, you cannot upload videos larger than 100 mb.
NotesNote: Uploading a file with a previously used filename is not permitted. Only the following file types are supported for uploading: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, mp4, mov, m4v, webm, and ogg.


Uploading a video or image from local storage

  1. After selecting the files, you will be redirected to a page with three buttons: "UPLOAD RAW FILE," "UPLOAD," and "CANCEL."
  2. If the file types of the image and video files selected from local storage are supported by SPAN, they are ready to be uploaded.
  3. Click on the "UPLOAD" button to upload these files.
  4. Once clicked, the files will begin uploading.
  5. The status of the files being uploaded can be seen on the "File(s) upload is in progress" page. Do not close this tab until the files are uploaded.
  6. Once the upload is complete, an animation will display with the message "Successfully uploaded."
  7. After a few seconds, the webpage will redirect to the "Click to select files or drag & drop files" page.
Notes
Note: You can also upload a file with its raw size without compression through the "UPLOAD RAW FILE" button. It is preferable to use the "UPLOAD" button as SPAN compresses the file size to a great extent with its compression capabilities.


Checking the uploaded files

  1. Click on the folder name to check the video and image file that got uploaded in it.
  2. The thumbnails of the video and image file can be seen below once they are processed.
